AcadeMICS is a track I produced using a dope string sample I flipped. Once it was recorded with my vocals, my fellow MLA crew member DJ 501 came in and put the icing on the cake with the cuts. The concept behind the song is based on the fact that many people who listen to hip hop today know little, if anything about the history behind hip hop culture. In order to create more quality music and advance the art form, we need to learn about the roots of hip hop culture and educate ourselves on its beginnings. Plus I threw in a few good ol' fashioned wordplay rhymes in the song for old times sake. What better way to educate ourselves about hip hop's history than through MICS (hence the emphasis ;)
